Students dancing at the homecoming dancefloor.
Students at Kennedy High were excited for a starstruck homecoming dance on Oct. 5, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m, with this year's theme being Celestial Serenade. With the Associated Student Body (ASB) planning and decorating, the evening was lively, with delicious food, games, photo booths, a dance floor, and both a DJ and a live band.
"I think homecoming is something to be very excited about,” senior Jadon Lee said. “Last year’s dance was executed very well, and I hope this year is even better."
As students stepped into the small gym, they were welcomed with a starlit atmosphere. The vibrant color scheme of blue, purple, and silver, bright fairy lights, and metallic stars hanging overhead, created a planetary theme. There was a wide variety of catering, including Kona Ice, Frostbites, and BittieBitez Mini-Doughnuts, ensuring that everyone was fueled for the night. The set-up plan began back in July, with ASB’s senior cabinet brainstorming themes and decorations to craft the exhilarating experience.
“Space was a theme that hadn't been done before,” senior Karrell Rose said. “We wanted to base our color palette, decorations, and advertisements on more galaxies and stars rather than something like astronauts.”
As the night continued, the dance floor lit up with a disco ball, flashing lights, and fog machines. The beat of the music and people dancing created an adrenaline-fueled moment.
“My expectations for this dance were high because it was my second dance of my first year,” freshman Yza Cunanan said. “My favorite moment from the dance was being the first on the dance floor with some of my friends.”
Many students left satisfied and energized. With out-of-this-world decorations, lively entertainment, and a welcoming atmosphere, Celestial Serenade was truly spectacular.
