Disney's Magic Can't Stop COVID Guidelines

Disneyland is the most magical place on earth, gratifying every child's fantasy. However, because of COVID-19, it's now become the saddest place on earth.

Disneyland has been closed to the public since March of this year because of the upward thrust of COVID-19 cases, and many regular park-goers are not too happy about that.

A dozen or more Disneyland fanatics and some cast members gathered around the theme park on Saturday, Oct. 17 to protest the closure which has caused approximately 28,000 employees to be laid off in Disney's U.S. theme parks.

“Cast members don't want to lose their dream jobs,” protest co-organizer Natasha Ramirez said. "It’s better to have Disneyland open just like all the other ones are and allow cast members to choose if they want to return or not, instead of not having the choice at all and being laid off.”

Signs held by protestors showed phrases such as "If other parks have opened safely, why cant Disneyland do the same?” while others made use of quotes from popular movies like “Frozen” and Winnie the Pooh stating “Oh brother! Why is disney still closed?"

These adult protesters dressed in their Disney gear with their Minnie ears and matching mini backpacks.

Disneyland is taking COVID-19 seriously and will keep their gates closed until the number of cases begins to decrease. While Downtown Disney has reopened, protestors claim that it “isn't enough”.

“People...think we just want Disneyland to open so we can go buy a churro,” Ramirez said.

The protesters seem to find any reason to have Disneyland reopen no matter what the circumstances. Due to the fact that other parks have been reopened, protestors are confused about why can't Disney be one of them.

The group is discussing other plans to protest once again but haven't released dates of when to expect it.
