Through the long hard fought season, the Dodgers have come out on top almost sweeping the Yankees in the World Series. With the biggest comeback in World Series history, the Dodgers came back from a 5-0 deficit and ended up winning 7-6 in the fifth game, closing out the World Series.
In the first game, the Dodgers showcased an absurd amount of skill over the Yankees. Dodgers player Freddie Freeman had hit a walk off grand slam, which set up the Dodgers with a victory in game one. Freeman made the achievement of getting a grand slam which was the third walk off home run while training in World Series history.
Heading into the second game, the Dodgers claimed another victory making it a 2-0 lead in the World Series. Dodgers player Tommy Edman was the first to score after he hit a home run in the second inning. At the end of the game, the Dodgers ended up winning 4-2 over the Yankees.
Going into the third game of the World Series, the Dodgers mirrored their victory from the night before winning 4-2 making them lead in the series 3-0. The star of the night being Freddie Freeman again for achieving home runs in three consecutive games of the World Series.
By the fourth game of the World Series, the Yankees didn’t allow the Dodgers to sweep them. Yankees player Anthony Volpe entered in the fourth game, hitting a grand slam making it the ninth World Series grand slam in Yankees history.
The fifth game of the World Series is when Dodgers players and fans' lives changed. Even though they were down 5-0 under the Yankees, the Dodgers took advantage of the Yankee defense in the fifth inning where they hit five runs tying the game. Through a tough game, the mistakes of the Yankees ended up leading to the Dodgers victory, winning 7-6 which in result led to them winning the 2024 World Series.
