Kennedy’s very own Keven Britton retired earlier this year after 20 years of hard work as the record secretary. Britton is the third Kennedy alumni (Class of 1977) employee to retire.

Her daily schedule consisted of handling student transcripts, records, and cumulative files. Throughout a normal day, she worked closely with the counselors to provide assistance for anything involving students and also acted as a liaison to the parents.

“I saw her one on one with the students, and she was always very poised and professional,” AP Spanish Teacher Jose Gallegos said. “She never lost her cool or complained about the workload.”

Many Kennedy staff members expressed appreciation for the time that Britton put into her work. Her eagerness to help students and constant care for their best interests is still admired on campus.

“It has been a pleasure to spend almost 20 years working with her,” counseling secretary Linda Zubiate said. “She is a kind, nurturing, hard working person who really enjoyed her job.”

In the counseling office, Britton took her job seriously and made the effort to work well with counselors, teachers, students, and other faculty members.

“[Britton] was a great team player and was always willing to help students, family, and staff,” counselor Vaishali Bennett said. “She brought a great balance to the counseling team.”

In addition to Britton’s dedication and hard work, the staff also acknowledged the charm and friendliness that she brought to the office. One of the many fond memories associated with Britton is her tendency to share delicious sweet treats with the office.

“She was the best, not only in supporting us in the Counseling Center, but she was a personal friend to all of us outside of school, too,” counselor Helen Chan said. “We will miss her, and her carrot cake, so much!”

Now that she is retired, Britton plans to move to Northern Arizona with her husband where they are having a house built for them.

The Fighting Irish family wishes Britton the best of luck in her retirement. She will most certainly be missed next year as she enjoys time with her family.
