From VP to President: The Disappointment Continues

The only difference between President Donald Trump and President Joseph R. Biden is a blue tie and a cult following. Biden has been in office for 51 days and has already already gone back on several of his campaign promises. As a result of his pseudo-liberal agenda, he has let down countless hopeful individuals across the country who voted him into office under false “promises.” Anywhere from deportation to further U.S. interference in foreign countries, Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have the democratic party fooled.

Despite promises to not deport any illegal immigrants within the first 90 days of office, as of one month ago Biden has deported an estimated 26,248 people to their native countries. There is an obvious issue with this that extends far beyond the actual concept of deportation.

Biden often criticized those who supported the separation of families, all while committing the same acts he commends. Many voted for Biden with the purpose of an updated, more progressive approach to immigration, but were greeted with the same shame presidents from the past carry. The hypocrisy of Biden’s actions shows that this new policy was nothing more than an empty campaign promise.

“Under Biden, ICE would primarily apprehend and remove people who pose a threat to national security, committed crimes designated as “aggravated” felonies or recently crossed the border,” the Associated Press said.

For migrants currently stuck in between borders, new “migration facilities” have been built to replace the older facilities. This “temporary housing” is just as abusive as the previous facilities, separating families and treating them with disrespect. Better conditions should not be praised when a facility is re-opened. All the facility does is provide more space than before for deported individuals to await an unneeded trial.

“It was predictable that there would be virtually no honeymoon for the Biden administration on the multiple crises that are displacing persons in the Northern Triangle states of Central America and elsewhere,” Executive Director of the Center for Migration Studies Donald Kerwin said.

The Biden Administration didn't go through with their plans. It doesn’t matter if it is an easy job or not. Sympathy for the administration instead of criticism allows for the people who made the promises to get a slap on the wrist and nothing more. If this continues, nothing will get done and the separated families will be unjustifiably detained for more time than they should.

Migrant facilities aren’t the only issue regarding Biden’s “progressive” policies. As of Feb. 25, Biden launched an airstrike on Syria as “retaliation for recent attacks on American troops stationed there,” while many believe the actual intention was to help Iran. There was no briefing with senators, and the strike caused outrage the moment it went public. For a president who so deeply criticized instances of U.S. intervention from previous presidents, it seems his Obama era Vice Presidential instincts returned.

“You illegally and unconstitutionally bombed Syria before you gave the American people survival checks,” one Instagramer user said.

It does not matter if it was to help an allied country or not, the airstrike on Syria was an immoral and illegal attack.

Just because Biden is a democrat doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be held to the same level of scrutiny as any other president. The false promises made in his early campaign are not something to be celebrated until implemented.
