Due to the spread of COVID-19 in the U.S., most high schools have temporarily halted in-class lessons in order to prevent the further spread of the disease, leaving most students stuck at home with more time on their hands than usual. Working at home in the same space we live in can blur the line between work and play. However, there are things you can do to help create that division. Here are some things you can do to stay productive at home under quarantine.

1) Working out:

As simple as it may sound, working out has many benefits for you, from making you feel accomplished to waking you up. Working out in the morning will set you into a productive mindset since your brain will realize that you accomplished a difficult task early in the day. Thus prompting you to want to accomplish other tasks and goals. Even if you don’t have weights or a pull-up bar at home, there are plenty of exercises that you can do that don’t require any equipment.

2) Dressing up for work:

Getting out of your pajamas and putting on clothes for school or work can help your brain think that it’s time to go to work/school, letting you know that it’s time to get some work done. By subconsciously telling your brain that you are dressing for work, not play, you will be in a mindset where you are preparing to get work done.

3) Pursuing a new hobby:

With extra time on your hands, now is a good time to pick up a new hobby, whether it’s photography, learning an instrument, or cooking. Instead of using the extra time to partake in activities with little benefits, pursuing a new hobby that you are interested in will help you pass the time quicker while also learning a new and interesting skill.
