On Nov. 5, students from a variety of high schools from the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) went on a field trip to Cypress college for a campus visit.
The trip began with the students heading into the gym. The high school students were allowed to volunteer to play a game against some college athletes who attend Cypress. After this President Dr. Scott W. Thayer of Cypress introduced himself and welcomed the students.
“We take this journey together, embodied by the spirit of the colleges and community” Thayer said. “I thank all the people coming out here to support Cypress college.”
Following the greeting from the president the students were able to explore the campus and the booths set up regarding transferring to a university, social support groups, resources for the students, and academic pathways.
“I learned the requirements for transferring to a university and what electives they offer here,” senior Miguel Wong said.
Overall the experience allowed high school students from AUHSD to gain more insight about Cypress college’s programs, electives, and pathways.
