On March 9, 2002 Ayomide Omolafe was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He was the youngest of four in his family, with two older brothers, and one older sister. Omolafe was seven when his parents unfortunately passed away, forcing him to move to the U.S where his grandparents lived.

This did not stop young Omolafe. Watching The National Football League (NFL) and his older brothers play inspired him to get into the great sport of American football. Now aspiring to play college football, Omolafe plans to move onto his dream of playing for the NFL .

“I want to play for the Seattle Seahawks, but you know if I get to the NFL and have to play for the Rams or Raiders, I don't care,” Omolafe said.

Omolafe lives by three words: respect, honor, and loyalty. These words show up in his life often as evidenced by those who are close to him. Football coach Bob Sykes has known Omolafe for two years, not only as his football coach, but as a mentor as well.

“He is a great guy, I mean he is the hardest working kid on the field,” said Sykes.

Omolafe is also a prominent figure at school, but is known to be close with few. Senior Zachary Chen, who became close to Omolafe on Kennedy’s Track and Field team, is one of these people.

“He’s a great guy who is always willing to help out friends in need, stand up for people, and always keep a positive attitude,” Chen said.

Chen also pointed out how Omolafe is a natural leader and a great teammate on the track team. Chen has ran with him for three years and has seen him help the younger runners in and out of practice.

“I am really proud of him, he has really grown into a fine young man,” said Assistant Principal Raphael Santiago.

Omolafe is not all about football. He engages in many activities outside of school. He likes to go to the beach on his off days. On the weekends, Omolafe likes to hangout with friends. His favorite thing to do with friends, other than going to the beach, is going to the movies.

Omolafe’s stellar reputation makes him a star on and off the field. The NFL would be proud to have a jersey with the name Omolafe on the back.
