Spoiler Warning!

Eve and Villanelle are back and totally, most definitely, absolutely, over each other. For those of you who are new or never seen the TV drama that follows the intertwined lives of MI5 agent Eve Polastri and the lovable Russian assassin Villanelle, now is the perfect time to catch up.

Coming off the high of two perfectly orchestrated and astonishing seasons is a difficult task for any show to pull off. Normally after the freshness has worn off, the plot line of chaotic spy thrillers tends to go down the drain. The season premiere managed, though, pulling itself out of the difficult position that the season two finale left the show after Villanelle shot Eve in the midst of their escape from Rome.

While it was an unusually slow start for the show, fans will be thrilled to see the cat-and-mouse game again between everyone’s favorite psychopath killer and spy.

As always, Villanelle arrives on screen dressed in designer clothes, upholding her title as the world’s most fashionable psychotic assassin. The audience sees her attempting to move on from Eve, marrying some poor unaware girl at a glamorous wedding before abruptly ruining it by tackling a woman to the ground. The woman is her old trainer, pulling Villanelle back into the game, and hence closer to Eve yet again.

Meanwhile, Eve has gone into hiding following the climax of last season working in the kitchen of a restaurant, attempting to rebuild her life that had been left in shambles. After vowing to leave her life of espionage behind, the writers needed some way to pull her back in. The way they decided to handle the problem? By killing off the beloved tech guy Kenny, breaking the hearts of fans and leaving them furious.

Overall, the premiere set the rest of season three up to be exciting, interesting, and new, while keeping the chaotic dark humor that fans love. Villanelle is still impossible not to love decked out in extravagant designer, while Eve is still relatable and hilarious. Even with new showrunners, audiences can expect the characters and twisted plot lines that they’ve come to love. Audiences can now catch up on the first two seasons as well as the first episode of season 3 on Hulu or Amazon Prime. “Killing Eve” will return this Sunday for episode two on BBC America and AMC.
