As the Halloween season approaches, everyone is ready to go to all the scary events. Halloween lovers find it difficult to choose a park. Buena Park holds one of the most well-known scary adventure parks. Knott’s Scary Farm, also known as “Scary Farm”, has been around since 1973 leaving it to be the longest-running Halloween theme park. Halloween Horror Nights (HHN), located in Hollywood’s Universal Studios, is known for the crazy themes they come up with every year. One of the mazes, “A Quiet Place” has caught many people's attention. However, Knott’s is worth the money and gives a better experience overall.
“HHN is a better experience if you are only looking for superior mazes. KSF offers a more rounded experience overall,” Reddit user @Kevinmattress said.
Scary Farm prices for tickets start at $59.99, making it an affordable option, while still bringing the same energy and fright as HHN. Whether it’s the food or the rides, many seem to come out pleased with what they paid for.
While Scary Farm is family-friendly, there still are some things that visitors don't like. The mazes they have are almost the same every year. This only takes away the suspense that people want. Scary farm does have mazes that are spaced out so people aren’t squished and can't enjoy the moment. The detail that is put into them is what allows people to feel like they are really real.
“The Scary Farm team executes concepts in ways that make visitors feel like they have stepped into another world, and not just into a tent or shed where people in store-bought masks or makeup will jump out to scare them,” Robert Niles from the OC Register said.
HHN has new mazes every year, and this year's “Insidious: The Further” is what a lot of visitors are most excited about and look forward to. There have been many reviews of HHN saying it is legitimately scary and lives up to the Halloween standards.
“Halloween Horror Nights is so worth it, I’d go again,” sophomore Melanie Lopez said.
One of the biggest cons is how long wait lines can get. Wait time for just one haunted house can be up to three hours on a busy day or an hour on a slow day. An express pass, starting at $249, allows you to get into the mazes faster, but the cost is not affordable for some guests.
Depending on whether one prioritizes a cost-friendly budget or a super scary experience, one park may better suit that preference.Scary Farm allows you to still be on a flexible budget while still bringing the fright to this Halloween season.
