On Oct. 8, the library officially re-opened. Students are now allowed to go work and print for their classes. Counselors are back in their offices.
The library now has a quiet section that gives students a space to study or work on assignments and projects in peace. The library also includes more desks for students to collaborate.
“I’m really happy that the library is back in action, though it does look the same as it did last year,” senior Dayna Gomez said.
On April 23, 2019, the library flooded, rendering the library and counseling center unusable. As a result, the library and counseling center were relocated to MP-1 until their recent re-opening. Librarian Kim Buck worked hard to make sure the temporary library was as useful as possible for students. She made sure there was a printing station, desks to do assignments, Chromebooks, and all of the other resources the library would normally have provided.
“It is frustrating having the library interfere with the counseling center, but I’m also very happy the library and counseling center is getting re-done as well,'' Buck said.
American Technologies Inc. (ATI) worked very hard on rebuilding the library and counseling center. ATI experts conducted a deep clean, repainted all of the walls, and replaced the carpet. Thanks to their hard work the library is back and better than ever.
