Isolation is the perfect time to try new hairstyles and make impulsive decisions with the help of hair shears. In a time like this, when individuals are stripped of the luxury of outside life, it is important to reinvent yourself.

Barbershops and hair salons alike are closed, but the creativity of what you can do with your hair remains up to you.

Undercuts

Historically, undercuts were popularized in the 1910s, predominantly by males but transformed into methods of fading the hair using different clipper guards. Using a 1 guard, shave the hair along the nape of your neck for an even cut. Optional: use a mirror and a finer blade to etch designs into the undercut. This will make for an edgier and bolder statement.

Shave It All Off

Statistically, hair grows ½ an inch per month, so mathematically, your hair will grow back before you know it. Besides, hats and beanies will fit snugger and you won’t have to worry about a bad hair day. The bald look is the most swag look. “Life just seemed so repetitive,” senior Anthony Farias said. “To spice it up I bleached my hair blonde and shaved my head. Now I use very little shampoo.”

Dye It

Experimenting with colors can give you a confidence boost as well as spark excitement. Darker hair will require bleach or some sort of hair lightening, so use it at your own expense. Purchase your own bleach, developer, toner, and hair color or utilize a box dye. Suggestions for colors include: neon green, purple, turquoise, platinum blonde, and red. Don’t forget to use gloves and oil around your hairline so that you don’t accidentally dye your hands or your head.
