On Nov 7. Kirk Herbstreit, College football sportscaster, analyst and former college football player, publicly announced that his dog Ben had died.
Days prior to his death Herbstreit posted on his Instagram account that Ben had been battling cancer for a while and his condition was starting to spread throughout his body.
“He was with me more than anyone at home and traveling with me for work. Such an easy going companion,” Herberstriet said on his Instagram post. “Hard day but he will live within all of us forever.”
Ben was well known throughout so many college football fans and teams. Herbstreit had a tradition to take him to every game he went to, so the loss of Ben was felt from many fans
On Nov. 9 on the weekly College GameDay, Sports commentator, Rece Davis, gave an announcement to reflect on Herbstreit loss. The fans outside standing for college GameDay chanted “We love ben” after seeing Herbstreit get emotional after talking about his dog
“We've seen billboards, We’ve seen signs, we see a number of messages about the loss of Kirk's dog, Ben,” Davis said. “Kirk we appreciate so much that you were sharing Ben with us.”
After a few words Herbstreit honored Ben by adding a special segment to show Ben's life and Herbstreit voicing over the video talking about their journey together.
