As trading season in the MLB begins, its followed with sadness when a team loses their best or favorite player. In the case of New York Yankees fans, they have lost Juan Soto. Left Fielder Juan Soto was previously with the Yankees and has decided he needed a change of scenery, but still loves the Big Apple.
The Yankees knew how much they needed Soto if they wanted to win. So, they offered him $760 million for a little over 16 years. Soto decided that it was not enough so he accepted the 15-year $765 million dollar offer from the New York Mets.
The Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers World Series gave shivering goosebumps to all and Soto was a big help for the Yankees. Aaron Judge, Soto, Gerit Cole, and Giancarlo Stanton were the reason why New York made it far in the series.
The smile on Soto’s face vanishes when he was asked if he has talked to Judge, Stanton, or the rest of the team.
“I haven’t talked to any of those guys,” Soto said on Yahoo Sports. “We talked to them through the playoffs, at the end of the playoffs. But after that, through this process, I haven’t talked to any of those guys.”
The questions as to why he did not re-sign with the Yankees still remain. It may be a forever unanswered question. Maybe it was all for the money, or maybe The Yankees just weren't fitting for him. Either way, The Mets are fortunate enough to have a talented left fielder on their team. With this trade, it can stir some rivalry up for the upcoming seasons.
