With summer right around the corner and California’s lockdown expectancy uncertain, many people feel bummed about their summer plans.

From senior trips, vacations, or hanging out with friends, there’s plenty you can still do in a safe and tactful way.

Play Minecraft with friends from the comfort of your home.

Minecraft was initially released on May 17, 2009 as a way for players to build, craft, and explore an unlimited realm. Options for creative and survival mode are available with adjustable settings for the intensity of mob spawns. Time becomes a figment of your imagination with how many hours can go into collecting resources, mining ores, and taming wild animals. Join a server with friends and compete to see who could make the most creative home, mine, or even farm. Options are unlimited with Minecraft.

Take advantage of the time by cooking.

Making homemade foods and desserts can be so fun, easy, and rewarding, even when using some prepared ingredients. Banana bread, cinnamon rolls, pasta, and quinoa salad are all perfect and simple ideas to kickstart your cooking career. Quick and easy recipes can be found on YouTube with notorious channels such as Allrecipes, Laura in the Kitchen, and Byron Talbott. If cooking isn't your ally, no worries. Postmates, Doordash, and UBEReats are among the more popular local delivery companies. Go out of your comfort zone and try new places as well as supporting small businesses.

Travel From Home with Books & Streaming

Whether you are a reader or enjoy watching movies, now is the perfect time to reanimate your hobbies. Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu offer thousands of movies and TV shows to watch. A motion picture marathon with popcorn, snacks, and drinks could be the ‘movie theater at home’ that you’ve been waiting for. Openlibrary, Goodreads, and Wattpad are amongst many online resources for finding a captivating book to read. Take this time to reinvent your summer and have a fun and safe time from the comfort of your home.
