Exotic cats, murder plots, gay polygamist rednecks, a drug lord who smuggled meth inside of snakes and inspired scarface, tiger based sex cults, amputees, country music, mullets, dubious labor practices, presidential campaigns – Netflix’s “Tiger King” has it all.
This documentary series on the big cat industry follows the rise and fall of Joe Exotic and how he went to jail for murder-for-hire.
Currently the most watched show on Netflix in America, “Tiger King” is all the rage. With its cast of despicable characters and plethora of exotic animals, “Tiger King” reels the audience in while drawing out questions such as, ‘Is this guy actually insane?’ and ‘How is that legal?’
With all the rivalries, conspiracies, and power struggles it's no wonder that “Tiger King” has been dubbed ‘White trash Game of Thrones’ by some. As wholly unlikable as Carol Baskin, Doc Antle, Jeff Lowe, and Joe Exotic are, it’s fascinating to watch as they struggle for influence and power within the big cat industry.
“Tiger King” is a great watch for those who wish to feel both frustrated at the legal system and soothed by how normal their life is in comparison to the show’s cast. The show is enthralling and impossible to walk away from as it sucks the audience in with tales of sex, murder, politics, and exotic cats.
