On Sept. 17, Kennedy High’s Young Americans for Freedom club — a chapter of the Young America’s Foundation (YAF) — was invited to a luncheon banquet at the Fashion Island Hotel hosted by YAF.

At the event, many large financial donors and board members of the organization gathered to officialize YAF President-elect Scott Walker. Former YAF President Ron Robinson gave a speech to welcome Walker and reflect on his own contribution to the organization.

When Walker walked onto the stage, he explained his plan for the future of YAF when he takes office in the coming years. He also talked about how his experience as the former governor of Wisconsin would help him run the organization while he is in office.

“Young America’s Foundation is the principal outreach organization of the Conservative Movement, committed to ensuring that increasing numbers of young Americans understand and are inspired by the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national defense, free enterprise and traditional values,”Walker said.

Kennedy High’s YAF chapter was the only high school chapter represented in the audience of more than 200 lifelong YAF members. The chapter was recognized at the end of Walker’s speech by having the young men stand up in front of the audience. The purpose of the event was to ensure that the young men of the club understood and would fulfill the goals of conservative activism that YAF has put forward.

Kennedy YAF chapter members who attended the event included junior President Jeffery Verne, junior Vice President Matthew Ferraro, freshman chapter member Steven Ramos, adviser Tommy Sibley and parent Tim Verne.
